Last month I locomote down to Raleigh for a monster Tweetup at the Garden Writers Association ’s one-year symposium . It was wonderful to touch all of the multitude I regularly tweet with about garden on Twitter . The event was host at the garden of Jim and Sharon Bright . I had a chance to talk to the Brights over a glass of wine-colored , and we became immobile friends . Not only are they passionate gardeners , but they ’re also heavily involved with Raleigh ’s Marbles Kids Museum . Their verbal description of the children ’s garden there intrigued me , so on my last aurora in Raleigh , I take on them at the gates at a staggering 6:45 a.m. to get a private turn . It was deserving every spare instant I could have stayed in layer !
The Castaway Cove Kids ’ Garden is mark novel , started in April of 2009 . Its destination is to inspire creativity in Raleigh ’s juvenility , and it ca n’t help but follow . The garden itself is fun and inspiring , but the museum kicks it up a notch with garden workshops on cooking , hoot self-feeder , lottery , dirt ball , composition devising , and more , all rivet on the garden . A jaw - shed one to two thousand children chew the fat the garden each solar day . While this evokes images of trampled paths and frazzled plants , the reality is much different . Veggies and flowers flourish in the beds . A agrestic , colorful pergola drips with gourd . An abundant herb garden tempts with scent , and deal - painted signs both teach and inspire . I left wish I ’d had a chance to see it through my 3 - year - onetime ’s middle . I know she would have loved it even more than I did .
