It sometimes seems that all bulbs come from either the Netherlands or somewhere around Greece or Turkey . But North America is dwelling house to some sensational bulb as well . Camassiais one , and like most native plants , it has a bunch of usual gens : camas , quamash , wild jacinth . Giant camas is , apparently , one of the expectant member of the genus , getting up to almost 3 foot tall .

A standout cultivar of this species is ‘ Sacajawea ’ , which boast thick flower stems hold aloft 2 - inch - wide star - forge flowers . These stems arise from upright blades of foliation that have a creamy whitened edge to them . Blooming in recent spring , ‘ Sacagawea ’ enjoys full sun and moist soil while growing and is not a favourite of deer or chipmunks . Treat the leafage as you would that of daffodil : Let it turn brownish before cut it back .
