Every year since I can remember, we’ve over-planted cucumbers. This year, we ended the cuke parade.

Every year since I can commemorate , we ’ve over - plant cucumbers . We planted them for different sizes – some for pickling , some for slicing . We also wanted to try unlike change and to compare cucumber smell . This yr , we ended the cuke parade . We determine to plant simply one variety ; the lemon cucumber .
Once of the reasons we select it was because they ’re not easily found into in a grocery store store and they ’re downright festal . We in reality put our organized religion into two lemoncucumberplants – literally . I planted two seedlings up against this deary , rusty , iron trellis and just have them do what comes natural .

unfeigned to the cucumber ’s religious doctrine of long - line - of - healthy - and - amazing - growing … they both took off . And we ’re once again load with cucumbers . All that was necessary to pull that off this time were two trivial seedlings .
Lovely Lemon Cucumbers
Oh , how we sleep with our lemon yellow cucumber ! They ’re low ( but not tiny ) , and have a gratifyingly - perfect , round shape . They ’re bi - gloss with deep yellow tomes and light yellow places – nearly striped . They truly resemble little lemon yellow , but do n’t allow that befool you . Lemon cuke do n’t taste anything like Citrus limon ; their name contemplate their cool looks only . The savor is very cuke - like and they have a crisp grain that everyone seems to bask .

The Versatile Lemon Cucumber
These cheery guys can hang out in the fridge for quite a while and we ’ve thrash generous amount of thin slice into our summer salad . hubby - extraordinaire loves to semi - pickle them and let them string up out in the electric refrigerator for snacking . He essentially place the lemon cuke slices into a container and append some rice vinegar and sugar then mixes well . He by - passes the water bathing tub and saltiness … so they do n’t keep like if they were canned ( as if they would last anyway ) . No , this first group is for snacking only .
Any solar day now , we ’ll have our next big harvest and we ’ll go for the “ substantial ” pickle / canning with that slew . Cucumber relish is something that we have n’t try and I ’ve heard that lemon cucumber vine are ideal for relish ; so we ’ll give that a go this year , too .

While I ’ve given roughly three of these bad male child to my oldest girl , we ’re going to end up using every bit of our harvest time . We have n’t had any to deal ! So , I ’m thinking that next yr we should add a just a pair more stinker cucumber vine plants . What form of selfish nurseryman does n’t share their cucumber harvest ?
