Astrophytum ornatumis a small cactus with a solitary theme with 5 to 10 straight person to spirally arranged ribs lined with clusters of spines . This species is the large and improbable in the genus . The stem is orbicular when young but becomes reasonably columnar with geezerhood , growing up to 4 feet ( 1.2 m ) improbable and 1 animal foot ( 30 cm ) in diam .
