Exploring a lush public garden
I had a probability to visit some gardens on Vancouver Island this August . One of them wasMilner Gardens , an telling natural landed estate garden .
This garden has a dissimilar flavour from the usual floriferous garden that we see , and I think all you avid nurseryman would savor and prize its personality .
The garden’s history
According to the garden’swebsite , this garden started as the demesne of the Milner kinsperson , purchase by Ray Milner in 1939 as an evasion from his study in Alberta . His 2d wife , Veronica Milner , was a British patrician touch on to such figures as Winston Churchill and Diana , Princess of Wales . She was also an artist and a passionate gardener . Veronica help to shape the garden on the estate , and add up many rarified and strange trees she pull in on misstep abroad with her married man . The Milners call their demesne “ Long Distance . ” After it was acquired by Vancouver Island University in 1996 , the name was changed to the Milner Gardens .
This building is nearly completely enshroud with Boston ivy ( Parthenocissustricuspidata , Zones 4–8 ) .
A garden social structure and a work bench put up a spot to sit down and delight a sculpture and the tree diagram beyond .

I do it the hints of the garden just visible through this opening night in the structure andvine .
Green , unripe , and more unripened . No need for prime here — this is a profoundly assuasive space .
And there are some pretty incredible prospect . I bed that thisgarden is now undefended to the publicso everyone can enjoy it .
