Happy Monday , everyone ! Today ’s photo are from Cheryl Weeks - Rosten , a military volunteer at Dahlia Hill in Midland , Michigan , two hours northward of Detroit .
Cheryl says,“Dahlia Hill is a hillside garden devoted for the past 25 year entirely to dahlias . This free garden began because a young little girl gave her female parent two dahlia genus Tuber for Mother ’s day . The sire in that family , Michigan creative person Charles Breed , now 85 , began plant them on the property next to his artwork studio . Eventually that hillside property was purchased and terrace through contributions from the community of interests and a local foundation and today manoeuvre as a non - profit . It ’s at the turning point of a engaged intersection and wows mass daily .
“ About 50 volunteer keep this alone organic garden blend . In the third week of May volunteers plant 250 varieties representing all 19 petal configurations recognized by the American Dahlia Society . We plant 3,000 tuber in all , and when we dig them up , they father near to 10,000 to lay in . After the killer frost hits in former October we get the process of digging , dividing , labeling , and storing them in a astonishingly small W.C. hold back at 45 degrees .

“ On the last two weekend of May , we trade our leftover tuber for $ 2 each , so there are credibly more dahlias in our community than in most . Since Dahlia Hill is such a unique community garden , the public is invited for a cyder and donuts open house every September to lionise the Autumn Equinox and the dahlias at their peak .
“ Besides the garden , visitors will also notice Charles Breed ’s scultpures in Al of the four seasons and also the four stages of human life story . For more information about Dahlia Hill and Charles Breed ’s hilltop studio apartment , seek out www.dahliahill.org . ”
