End of Month View. Autumn Glories.
We have had a glorious end to October with a weekend of lovely sunshine . The garden is luminous with ardent shades of russet , reds , Orange River and yellow . It is difficult to think that this fanfare represents the death throe of the vegetation . look out of the window is like a glimpse into fairyland . I hope I am not too late to lionize it by bring together in withHelen ’s terminal of Month View meme . The grass tree , Cotinus coggyria‘Royal Purple ’ has a fantastic fall colouring material .

Cotinus ‘ Grace ’

Cotinus coggyria ‘Royal Purple’
Cotinus‘Grace ’ is different , but good too , it grows by this Acer , I blank out which one it is now but it is begin to turn crimson . It is always exciting waiting for the dissimilar acers to let on their fall colours .
The hedgerow in the woodlet consists of trees which are routine most of the year but the Field Maple , Acer Campestre and the Poplar colour up beautifully in fall .
Cathy atRambling in the gardenhas hag hazels that provide the bonus of beautiful autumn foliage . In my gardenHamamelis pallidaturns yellow and makes a colourful backdrop for the dahlia . Hamamelis‘Vesna ’ and ‘ Diane ’ are suppose to have dependable autumn leave of absence , and I have both , but so far they are not looking very exciting . tree and shrub that provide interest for more than one season are very welcome . Amelanchieris useful for the delightful prime in spring , but it has a beautiful autumn colour too . The only drawback is that both blooms and red-faced leaves are chop-chop over .

I am always singe the praises of the adorable ruby leaves ofCercis canadensis‘Forest Pansy ’ , but in autumn they are burnished with Orange River and terracotta .

TheCornus alba‘Baton Rouge ’ with brilliant red stems in the winter garden has lovely autumn leaves which are an unexpected fillip .

I have quite a harvest of seedlings coming on for autumn enjoyment . I have to disgrace - facedly let in that some of them were illicitly get . The berries just drop into my pocket . They includeMalus , Sorbus , Acerand a selection ofEuonymuswith beautiful berries . I will have to wait a few years to bask these , but in the meantime I have bribe two trees for autumn interest . One is aLiquidamber styracifoliato replace the one that choke . The other is an impulse buy , a case of sexual love at first sight . It isKoelreuteria paniculata‘Coral Sunset ’ .

Well , could you have resisted this Koelreuteria ?
Berries too are a source of delight in October . Everyone have intercourse the lustrous , purplish berries ofCallicarpa bodineiri‘Profusion ’ . It is well named because there really is a profusion of berries .

If I was take a yellow fruitedMalusfor the garden I would take the well - named ‘ fat person ’ , with expectant , long lasting , xanthous fruit . The one in my garden is the more commonly seen ‘ Golden Hornet ’ . It was obviously planted old age ago , for it is quite a size . I do like the jaundiced fruit against a profane sky , but very before long the fruits will start to turn over a very unattractive brown .
Malus ‘ Golden Hornet ’
Never mind , it provide a nice backdrop for the autumn garden . The yew on the good side of the photo is live to have to go . I have inhabit with it for five years now and I do n’t wish it , sitting plonk in the middle of the lawn . It is so big and tall and grim . A churchyard kind of shrub . I know that along with the rowan and the elder the yew was suppose to give protective covering against malevolent spirits , but I will just have to take my hazard .

A couple of year ago I cut down in sexual love with the translucent , undimmed red Berry of the rareBerberis georgiiwhen I saw it at East Bergholt arboretum . They are difficult to propagate so there was a long waiting list , but I do now have one of my own .

But of course of instruction it is not all leave and Berry , this year the October flowers have been wonderful . Roses are still in bloom . ‘ Sally Holmes ’ is particularly serious and looks as fresh as it did in June .

The nerines in the garden are of late this yr , but until the frost comes to bilk them they will go along to delight .

This is getting rather long so I will deliver my Chrysanthemums for November . I am not keen on the self-aggrandizing mop head , which look like unruly hairdos , but I do have a lot of spray Chrysanthemums . I will show you just one , my darling at the second . It is the adorable cherry-red ‘ Belle ’ It is on the crimson list as it is quite rarefied . It is spring up next toAcer griseumwhich is getting lovely orange -tinged parting .

You have so many wonderful bloom and coloured leaves , your garden must be looking so pretty at the moment . Add me to the list for sour your yew into a fun piece of topiary !
Another fan of the gorgeous Berberis georgii – in particular ! I would care to endeavor to get one if possible – any suggestion where ? Helen Dillon ’s grand garden in Dublin has a small topiary boxwood .urn carve out in the midpoint too . Perhaps you could prove a giant variant – as already suggested !
Oh all is reckon fantastically and dazzingly autumnal Chloris . I care the feel of your new learning . The Koelreuteria is new to me and in solution to your doubt I do n’t think I could refuse it either if I saw it in the flesh . The information about Malus ‘ Golden Hornet ’ is most useful and timely as I ’m considering purchasing a icteric fruited malus to keep ‘ Red Sentinel ’ company .

Cornus sanguinea ‘Midwinter Fire’
You have a beautiful gloam color presentation . In a proficient class , we get relatively little in the means of fall colour and this is not a good year – even our nighttime temperatures are running higher than usual . I do appreciate the chance to enjoy yours . In a double-dyed world , I ’d have that Cotinus , the Cerdiciphyllum , and the Callicarpa . I do recollect Mahonia ‘ Charity ’ might work here – I have a go at it how you have it engraft en masse .
You ’re hold quite a colourful fall ! Your Forest Pansy remind me of our Redbud ( Cercis canadensis ) . So much beauty in your garden – I do n’t do it where to protrude ! I think of see the ‘ Sally Holmes ’ grow on other web log ( and yours ? ) in the yesteryear . It ’s a beauty ! This is a gravid EOMV berth !
This look around your endearing garden has taken me direct back to my college twenty-four hours at Capel where I was capable to see all of these trees in their full autumn people of colour . Totally gorgeous and how wonderful to have them in your garden – bliss ! I totally agree with you about Malus x zumi ‘ Golden Hornet ’ ; I thought it face horrendous in January but like the sound of Butterball , although Red Sentinel keep its good look into spring .
