This Puerto Rican gardener makes the most of his small garden space

Antigonum Cajan submitted these photos of his low but implausibly diverse garden in Puerto Rico . He ’s shared his garden with us before , and today it is nice to revisit his tropic Eden while many of us in colder climate are having our first frosts and brace for the arrival of winter .

The purple flowers in this container come fromRuellia brittoniana(Mexican petunia , Zones 8–11 ) . Though it ’s only stalwart in quite affectionate climates , those of us not lucky enough to be endure in the Caribbean can still enjoy this beautiful flora as an annual .

A look at the garden from above show how Antigonum contend to grow so many different plant life in a very circumscribed space . There are ghost - loving plants below , shrub above , and a variety of vines clinging to the fence .
