Flower power, superstar guest to CTG
What is it about a heyday that find us so mad ?
Most of us dug a shovel into the soil the first time because a plant magnetise us . Sometimes we move on to plan concepts and enraptured serial combinations , botanic names , bionomical benefits , and topiary . Other times , we just plant the plant and vegetables we sleep with . Works for me .
At the baby’s room last weekend , I saw a lambency in every eye from every garden variety gardener : kidskin , grandmas , Birkenstock folk music babble metal money - talk , beer - gut guys cradle tiny stack of herbs , young couples chattering about their first works ever ( though not trusted what they were ) , and people like me . Just evidently excited . Regardless of weirdy weather and backbreaking minute when we marvel why we ’re doing this , it all comes down to fall in lovemaking with a works .

Two of my spring loves joined together in the crape bed : Narcissus ‘ Falconet ’ and dayflower ( Tradescantia gigantea ) .
Since Greg rescued a few stagger dayflower from the brook bed years ago , they ’ve multiply like bunny . Every year , I toss seeds back to the creek banks to see if I can restore them . Their home ground has been extremely disturbed , but perhaps they ’ll return someday . In the meantime , their heritage is secure with me .
Here ’s potential Narcissus ‘ Grand Primo ’ with clusiana tulip ‘ Tinka ’ in the den bed . Both naturalise .

Here ’s ‘ Tinka ’ with ‘ Helen von Stein ’ lambs ears in the crepe bed . I ’ll never forget how excited I was to bump these two plants for the first clock time . ‘ Helen ’ is gruelling to find , but deserving the hunt .
Clusianas close up shop in evening , but flash themselves by mid - day to attract aid from pollinator .
By the way , I ’m deal the lambs ear ’ love in front this weekend by dividing some of these good for you female child .

I ’m also in making love with the winter - striking groundcoverPackera obovata , blooming against the newCarex morrowii‘Aurea - variegata ’ . I cut down like a rock candy when I visit this variegated Japanese sedge a few years ago . Glad I ultimately succumbed .
One of my first pink wine from theAntique Rose Emporiumwas Lady Banks . And what ’s not to love about it with red poppies ?
In the cat cove , much is waiting to happen .

Soon , the blooming spring starflowers will have company with winecups , calylophus , more poppy , spiderworts , Gulf penstemon , and others . The pile are my newPelargonium sidoides . I also contrive to gather in someSedum mexicana . There are a few variety of oregano , and catnip , of course ! The lavender took a whipping , but I cut them back and they ’re flushing out , along with Mexican mint marigold .
