In a vase on Monday. Pink Spiders etc..
This vase originate off in my judgement as an musical arrangement just of nerines , with their spidery flower petal inspiring the title of respect . Of of course I could n’t stop there . The frothy peak ofSympyotrichum pringlei‘Monte Cassino ’ were just what I demand to set them off and also the pink border parting ofFuchsiamagellanica‘Versicolor’ . Solanum jasminoideswas look so pretty too and just calling out to be used as a bit of extra froth . Alcalthaeasuffrutescens ‘ Park Allee ’ is still going potent and will continue until the freeze . I then decided I take a bit of darker pink to stop it looking wash out , so I added someSalvia‘Wendy ’s Wish ’ and a coloured pink Chrysanthemum whose name I am not certain of .
As it is November , I added some wintery efflorescence of Viburnum . I dislikeViburnum tinus , although the efflorescence are useful for winter arrangements . As I keep pointing out , it smells of lactating dog when it rain down . Viburnum fragranssmells lovely and is more ticklish . I popped a few hazel ament in as a reminder that natural spring is not far off . The picture on the vase is rather apt for November . before long this is all that will be left in the garden . Except it is snails rather than seashell which will take over . manifestly .
As it is so down in the mouth outside , when I had polish off this , I retrieve I would go and see what I could find to bring in for another vase to cheer us up . I ’m afraid I really dislike November . This sentence of the year always remind me of the last poesy of the poem,‘Toads Revisited’by Philip Larkin :

Rosa ‘Sally Holmes’
‘ When the lights fall on at fourAt the end of another day . Give me your sleeve honest-to-god frog : Help me down cemetery route . ’
I ca n’t actually retrieve the balance of the poem , just this miserable last verse . So , intelligibly more blooms are need as an antidote to glumness and the spark on at four .

I wonder who Sally Holmes was ? I imagine her as a rather jolly school girl , not very cagey , but always cheerful and up for a plot of hockey , even when it is cold , damp and saturnine in November . She is so unrelentingly pollyannaish , that she is rarely out of efflorescence . I partnered her with a smuggled Scabious as a sobering influence . I used a duet of the dark Dahlia pinnata which I grew from seed , as something more suited to this colored month . I love the path the pollen is spilling out like gilt rubble .
A red penstemon adds a bit of brightness . It is awing how so many penstemons are still flower .
The orangish and yellow peak is a seedling of the orangish Evening PrimroseOenothera ‘ Sunset Boulevard . ’

So there we have it , two vases for the Leontyne Price of one . really , I have three vas at the moment , but the third does n’t count because the flowers are not from my garden . They are a gift and I am told they issue forth from the ‘ poshest supermarket in Britain ’ . Goodness know where they were grow and how many air mile they have accumulate . But still they are pretty . Not sure about the cabbages though . possibly I will eat on them .
In a Vase on Monday is hosted by Cathy atRamblinginthegarden . Today , she is celebrate the second natal day of the meme . Congratulations Cathy ! Do link in with the solemnisation .

What a beautiful garden and what sensational vases , Chloris ! I like so much the way you combine the coloring material and the shapes and textures of the flowers .
All 3 vas are beautiful , Chloris , although the first is my favourite . Every yr when I see Nerines appear in blogger place , I recoil myself again for my failure to found any of the bulbs . I think the job is that the bulbs are rarely sold topically here . I should probably go check my mail service order catalogue this very minute to see if I can observe some there before I forget about them yet again . Re your last vase , Loree of danger garden recently held a competition challenge garden bloggers to create displays or vases using decorative cabbage or kale – I think she ’d be delighted with your posh supermarket find .
Oh what a trio of fabulous vases Chloris but the first two take the prize . Funnily enough the very name Sally bring to take care the face of a keen hockey instrumentalist at shoal and always make me quiver . I played in goal and always take as long as I could to slog myself up before waddling over to the end net . It made the game slightly short . It ’s been one of those brightness level on all 24-hour interval complete with rain and wind scenarios here . I detest November with a payback too !

I ’m not a immense fan of November , either , but this twelvemonth has been an exception . We still have relatively balmy atmospheric condition and flowers still bloom – quite strange for us ! And it await like you still have quite a excerption , too . I have a go at it your vase ! And the arranging is exquisite . squeamish , nice !
The pinks with the frothy Patrick Victor Martindale White in the first musical arrangement expect downright fountain - like . Although the second features a few somber color , it feels fond and cheery .
The pink vase of nerines is so pretty , with the darker sage and whites . But I really relish looking at all the color and sort in the second vase , especially your admiration dark burgundy dahlias , Chloris ! I am so impressed you grew them from cum . Another flower to put on my inclination . My DIL would go for the depot - bought flowers that look so polished .

All 3 vase are terrific even of the last is not from your garden . I love the nerines as they feel bright and summery as the sun allow earlier every day … November through January is a hard fourth dimension due to the other wickedness .
