For more years of my life than not, I’ve been raising children to love gardening

For more years of my life than not , I ’ve been raising children . My married man and I have four kids and one sugar baby — I might as well be a Pez dispenser . I have n’t even make do to keep my children out of my bathroom , much less my gardens .
So I had to give the short people garden of their own in ego - defense . I ’ll openly include that when it comes to my plants , I can be super protective . And by protective , I mean selfish and controlling . I love my kid as much as the next mother ( credibly ) , but the day a toddler watered my old maid flower ’s leave and pulled the tiny yellow efflorescence from my Lycopersicon esculentum plant , the lines were drawn .

I call in a freeze to the clumsy , gluey fingers in my garden and gave them some select real estate in another part of the yard for their own garden universe — and garden they did . I glean ( stole ) as many ideas as I could from other harassed gardening moms about how to keep tiddler focus on their own projects .
Through the long time , we managed to do quite a few really amazing things in the kids ’ gardens . Vegetables were always in my plan because the kid could actually put these thing in their mouths without me screaming like a banshee , flying across the yard , and crumple everyone into car seats for a trip to the hospital . They could actually eat up what they develop — who knew ? Below is some of the nerveless stuff and nonsense we did with veggie garden .
Bean-Pole Tepee
No matter how many of these we grew , bean - rod teepee never produce dull . This twelvemonth will be the first yr that we ’ll grow one with our three - year - honest-to-god saccharide baby .
All you need is six to eight bamboo pole or piece of thin scrap lumber that are 6 to 8 foot long . The lumber or poles can be tie altogether at the top with anything you could get your hands on . Then you stand the poles upright and scatter the leg out evenly tipi stylus . We engraft four of any sort of runner edible bean ( not bush beans ) around the pedestal of each pole and let the beans produce up . They form a live cover song around all the poles — instant teepee fortress !
Kid-friendly vegetables
It ’s the wild thing — I started teaching my own kids about garden and somehow ended up instruct other people ’s Thomas Kyd about plant and gardening . I ’m recite you , it ’s the only way to keep them out of my garden .
